Thirty Minutes in the Life - MAY: The Quarantine Kids
We’re five months into 2020 and it’s been one hell of a year, right?
We’re currently on week 11 of lockdown here on Long Island and trying to do what we can to making the best of it. While it’s pretty hard running around after two kids while simultaneously working my full time job, I do realize that I’ve been given a precious opportunity to spend more time with my children. There have been several times I’ve lost it over the past few weeks, but again we are trying to make the best of things.
Olivia is starting to wrap up her distance learning for third grade. The transition has been hard for her. She misses school, her friends and her teacher. Trying to learn in a google classroom just isn’t the same. It’s frustrating her. I can totally commiserate too since the set up just feels foreign and distant. I’m honestly a little disappointed in the lack of teacher involvement too… but again, teachers are in the same boat - at home trying to do their jobs and raise their families too.
Amelia is LOVING having everyone home all the time. As far as she’s concerned, quarantine has been pretty great. At 16 months, she’s walking, jumping and CLIMBING EVERYWHERE. She loves hiding keys, putting dangerously small things in her mouth and trying her hardest to make a mess in every room she enters. Because of her current fascination with toilet paper, we can no longer keep a single roll anywhere she can reach. It’s a hot commodity!
I’m not sure how the cats feel about us being home all the time, but they do love the almost constant supply of Amazon boxes they can snuggle and hide in!
After school and work is over, we try to spend at least an hour or more outside. After I snapped this photos of Amelia’s little curly q’s - it started to rain.
Amelia wasn’t too thrilled with the rain, but Olivia LOVED IT! She has always been my little water baby.
Amelia was shivering and obviously cold, but refused to go inside until her big sister did too. While Olivia has her moments when her little sister can be a little annoying, I feel like they have become much closer during all of this. So that’s my silver lining.
Thanks for joining us for this 30 minutes in the life at home. Yes - life in quarantine certainly has it’s challenges, we do what we can to enjoy our extra time together as a family.
