January 365
And just like that, it’s a new year and a new 365…make that 366! As with every other year, I like to lay out my goals and objectives for the year. While it’s never something that’s set in stone, I like to have some sort of plan or thing I want to focus on.
In 2018 my main focus was on creativity, 2019 was connection and 2020 is going to about shooting with authenticity.
While I love lifestyle photography and environmental portraits, trying to manufacture a perfect moment no longer works well with my 8 year old. She’s over daily photo taking.
Since begging and bribery are no longer viable options, I’m trying to observe more, shoot with intention and shoot thought the moment in an attempt to get an authentic image.
January always has a unique set of challenges. It’s dark, it’s cold and it’s looooooooong. I swear this January lasted for like five months this time around. In that time, I was only able to shoot FOUR photos in natural light. Everything else was flash, ice light or some other artificial light source. While in past years, I’ve hated this about the winter, I guess I’ve finally embraced it - I think that’s kind of a good thing right?
Here’s a look at our month.
Olivia is basically kicking ass in everything right now. She’s loving school life, loving dance and loving her friends. Her kid sister is annoying to her, but I think she secretly loves her.
Meals is flying around the house and loves to CLIMB. She’s almost walking, but probably needs another month to get there. She loves the cats and makes kissy noises to get their attention. The kittens like to play with her, but Georgie wants nothing to do with her shenanigans.
