2025 Daily Project -A Week in Photos: NYC Lenses, Snowy Sledding, and the Joys of Mom Life

Hey friends!

What a whirlwind of a week it’s been. It started with a little adventure into NYC—cue the big city energy and all the honking taxis—for a trip to the photography mecca: B&H Photo Video. If you’ve never been, imagine a candy store, but for photographers, with more gear than you thought existed. I picked up a shiny new lens (any guesses on which one? Hint: it's the perfect mix of dreamy and practical—because #momlife). Let’s just say my camera bag is now living its best life. Amelia was also living her best life with a pretzel as big as her head.

Of course, I couldn’t resist heading over to Gantry Plaza State Park in Long Island City afterward. If you haven’t been, it’s this gorgeous riverside spot with killer views of Manhattan. I spent a little time just wandering, snapping photos of the skyline, and soaking in the calm before heading back to the daily chaos of laundry, meal-planning, and mediating who gets the last cookie.

Midweek, Mother Nature decided to throw us some snow! (Suffolk County moms, you know the drill—snow boots on, cocoa prepped, and “Do we even have sleds anymore?!” panic mode.) We bundled up and headed out with the cousins for some sledding action. There’s something about kids’ laughter echoing across a snowy hill that feels like a scene straight out of a Hallmark movie. The joy is contagious—even when someone face-plants in the snow. (Spoiler: It’s usually me.)

Then, in true winter fashion, the germs came knocking. Everyone caught something, and we spent a few days holed up in the house. Think pajamas all day, endless cups of tea, and the occasional game of “Let’s see who can sit still the longest.” (Spoiler: no one won.) But the good news? We’ve officially bounced back, just in time for the weekend!

So, what’s next? Who knows! That’s the fun part, right? Life as a mom is equal parts unpredictable and magical. Whether it’s another snowy adventure, a cozy family movie night, or just finding a new corner of Long Island to explore, I’m here for it—and you bet my camera will be too.

Until next time, keep finding beauty in the little things and capturing those ordinary-but-extraordinary moments.
