30 Minutes in the Life - January Edition... Hello Amelia!

Little did I know that January 13th was going to be THE day. While I was technically due on the 19th, I had a feeling that I was going to go a little early….

For the last month, I’ve been having the WORST heartburn and pregnancy insomnia. So bad that I would sleep at best 2 hours a night. The wee hours of January 13th were no exception. I was trying to somehow will myself back to sleep when I felt what I can only describe as some type of internal kick and a gush of fluid.

Running to the bathroom, I was certain in my sleep deprived haze that my water broke… with in a few minutes and a phone call to my OB, we were on our way to the hospital to have a baby!

By 5am, we arrived at Stony Brook Hospital.. I was only 2.5cm dilated so we safely assumed we were going to be at the hospital for quite some time. I called my very dear friend and amazing documentary photographer Beth Thomas of EBeth Photography and let her know it was time…. but not rush.

Famous last words friends. I totally jinxed myself.

In less than 2 hours, that baby was out. No drugs and four pushes.

Words can’t describe what it’s like to have another little one - it’s kind of like turning back the clock on Olivia…. yet without all the fear of being a first time mom. I’m doing what I can to really enjoy every possible second with her.

Once again, I was to say thank you thank you thank you to once of my favorite people - Beth Thomas for taking so many amazing images documenting our new arrival. These images will be cherished for the rest of my life - and Amelia’s too. I am beyond grateful to you and in awe of your talent <3
