A weekend in New Paltz, NY - Hello Olivia Photography

I guess you could call it a baby moon or whatever it’s called, but my husband booked a family weekend away up in New Paltz, NY…. which is one of my favorite places to be.

While we normally just slum it up at the seriously scary Super 8 motel, there is one place I’ve been DYING to go to, but reservations seem to book up a year in advance…and we’re not the best at planning stuff.

Long story short, my husband made a miracle happen and we spend a 3 day weekend up at the Mohonk Mountain House!

Any Dominianni trip includes waking up at the crack of dawn to get on the road before anyone one else on earth. I get it though. We left on a Friday morning and Lord Jesus help us if we got stuck in Bronx traffic. No joke, the boss would probably just turn around and go home if that was the case.

Since we had a bit of time to kill, we took a detour and drove up to my husbands hunting property in Ferndale. It’s literally in the middle of nowhere.

After our detour, we continued our journey to the beautiful Mohonk Mountain House.

This resort was originally built in the late 1800’s. The stunning woodwork and craftsmanship of the building are only overshadowed by the unbelievable grounds.

The manicured gardens, the glacial lake stocked with gigantic fish, the hiking trails with scenic overlooks and the fall foliage at full peak was almost too much to believe.

Situated in the Shawangunk Mountains right at the foot of the Catskills, this places has STUNNING VIEWS from every possible vantage point…and every single room has an outdoor porch with rocking chairs to utilize that view to the fullest! We spent much time everyday enjoying all the views the hotel had to offer.

The amenities were a pretty big hit too with Olivia. Especially the gigantic indoor heated pool that she had mostly to herself.

All meals…. and I mean ALL MEALS are inclusive….and abundant with fresh farm to table ingredients. My little kiddo specifically liked going up again and again to the chocolate fondue station for chocolate covered strawberries!

My favorite by far was the fresh pasta - by the time I was finished after each meal, I needed to be wheeled out of there.

We also spent some time in the town of New Platz too - It’s one of my favorite places to explore… especially on a cool fall day with no itinerary.

While I wish we could have done a few more things like apple picking at Minards, hiking in the Gunks, or Ice Skating, #2 sorta made that impossible. Luckily for us, we’re already planning our next trip. Until next year, New Paltz!
