The Third Trimester! - A 365 Post about getting IN THE PICTURE | Hello Olivia Photography

I feel like I do a pretty lousy job of documenting my own journey as a mom. Sure, I document the crap out of my kid (and my cats), but I can probably count on my fingers and toes how many photos I have of me and my journey as dear old mom.

Case in point - my third trimester started last Saturday. I’m officially 29 weeks. Can you guess how many photos I’ve taken of me during this pregnancy? The one above makes three. Yup. 29 weeks and 3 photos. WAY TO GO!!!!!!

So, this week is going to be about documenting me (Lol - I sound so full of myself!)…. but really - my kiddos will have a billion pictures of themselves and hundreds of their father. I need to up my game and prove I was there too.

So, join me as I dust off the tripod, figure out how to use the phone app on my camera and take some damn photos of me being me. A mom. An uncomfortable pregnant person. A hot mess.

MONDAY

I saw a stunning image by photographer Laura Wood that I was immediately inspired by. I have a beautiful gold mirror that I picked up years ago in the Poconos at an antique shop that I knew would be perfect for this type of shot. I cleaned the dust off my tripod and finally got to work using the Sony Playmemories app to take my photo. Luckily I think it worked out very well! Once #2 arrives, I need to take this photo again!

TUESDAY

Probably the most flattering photo of me to date. Swollen feet - check. Horrible posture - check. Just all around uncomfortable - CHECK! My kiddo has a habit of trying to win the world record for speed tooth brushing, so we need to check her teeth every night to make sure she doesn’t miss spots.

WEDNESDAY

I’m trying so hard to be good, but every day is a constant struggle. I always have to pee, but I’m always thirsty. ALWAYS. My life right now is pretty much this:

Pee

Horrible thirst.

Drink water.

Get terrible heartburn.

Eat Tums.

Pee….

and the vicious cycle continues.

THURSDAY

Pretty much my entire life right now summed up in a photo - my kid & my phone, in Target buying cat litter and cat foot for my jerk cats.

FRIDAY

Lol - clearly the more photos I take for this project, the more unflattering and real they are. The week is almost over, but I am so freaking tired. One job ends and another begins. Catching up on my own edits and preparing for family holiday sessions this weekend…and for every weekend after, until the end of time. Or more like the end of the year.

SATURDAY

I’m all alone today. The boss took Olivia and Liam camping overnight, so today is one of the rare days where I can clean the house in peace (and move the furniture without my husband having a heart attack about it). I’ve had a picture similar to this in my head for a few days, so I’m glad I was able to finally capture it. Now off to vacuum and put the furniture back :)

SUNDAY

Probably the most “real” photo ever. Bed head, coffee, dirty dishes and piles of laundry. As much as I love weekends, I hate weekends.

So during this week long project, I’ve learned a few things. I look even more tired than I feel. My camera/phone app is actually pretty easy to use and while I don’t exactly love unflattering photos of myself, I’m sure I’ll look back on all of these one day with some fondness (and probably say, “Wow - I looked terrible”). Either way, it was a good experience and I’m glad I did it. Will I rush to take more selfies? Doubtful, but you never know.
